Long-Term District Substitute Teacher Grades 7-12

The Hoosic Valley Central School District is seeking a qualified, long-term certified substitute teacher to work in the Junior- Senior High School, November 2017-June 2018. NYS Certification is required. Business Certification preferred, but not required. Responsibilities include professional duties as a teacher; developing lesson plans, teaching, and grading. Position includes benefits.

ANTICIPATED EDUCATIONAL TECHNOLOGY SPECIALIST

The Hoosic Valley Central School District is seeking a qualified individual to fill a full-time, 12-month position as Educational Technology Specialist. 

General Duties:

  • Designs, installs and maintains local area micro-computer networks, district area networks; municipal area networks and wide area networks;
  • Maintains firewall administration, Internet security, Web application issues and route and wide area network configurations;
  • Installs and runs Internet protocol networks;
  • Analyzes and takes corrective action to resolve micro-computer network problems;
  • Installs, configures and maintains network file servers;
  • Consults with district and building level administration concerning LAN/WAN design, installation, troubleshooting;
  • Tests new computer hardware and software;
  • Acts as "trouble-shooter" for stand-alone micro-computers and networks by diagnosis of problems, providing solutions and educating staff about problems and solutions;
  • Maintains up-to-date knowledge of new trends and technology for micro­computer hardware, software and networking;
  • Consults with users, vendors and technical staff regarding the purchase of Computer hardware, software and networks;
  • Coordinates acquisition and installation of micro-computer equipment with appropriate district staff;
  • Informs management of any adverse condition with the equipment;
  • Maintains records of repairs and replacement schedules for hardware;
  • Coordinates activities with service providers/vendors;
  • Informs and trains technical staff;
  • Maintains records of wiring, cabling and location of micro-computer equipment (Network and stand-alone);
  • Monitors network and stand-alone computer functioning to assure efficient and effective operation of equipment;
  • Maintains an inventory of software within the district;
  • Plans and maintains network directory structure and accounts;
  • Maintains inventory of tools and spare parts;
  • Consults with staff on matters of hardware requirements, etc., to run/support educational software (stand-alone vs. Network application);
  • Maintains a directory of service providers and vendors;
  • Provides in service training to district personnel concerning basic troubleshooting, network access, and operating system basics.

Qualifications: Graduation from high school or possession of a high school equivalency diploma and either:

a)    Graduation from a regionally accredited or New York State registered college or university with a bachelor's degree in computer science, computer technology, information technology, data processing, management information systems or related field and one (1) year of experience responsible for the installation, maintenance, and configuration of micro­computer hardware and software for local area networks; or

b)    Graduation from a regionally accredited or New York State registered college with an Associate's Degree in computer science, computer technology, information technology, data processing, management information systems, or related field and three (3) years of experience as defined in (a) above; or

c)    Network Certification (CNE) from a vendor Authorized Center and three (3) years of experience as defined in (a) above.

Salary:  $40,000

FOOD SERVICE HELPER

The Education of the Hoosic Valley Central School District is seeking a qualified individual to fill one part-time (approximately 3 hours/day), 10-month position of Food Service Helper, beginning immediately. 

Duties may include:  Sets tables and clears them after meals; fills sugar bowls and salt and pepper shakers; cleans dining rooms and dish and linen closets; cleans, washes and otherwise prepares vegetables and fruit for cooking; assists in the preparation of salads and desserts; helps Cooks in any phase of their duties; washes dishes, pots and pans by hand or machine; sweeps, mops and cleans kitchen; may act as Monitor; may act as Cashier.

Qualifications: Working knowledge of proper methods of serving food and of the care of tableware, glassware, silver, and kitchen appliances; Ability to follow oral and written directions;  Good physical condition; Experience in a restaurant or hotel dining room is desirable.

Salary:  $12.93

BUSINESS TEACHER: Business Teacher (7-12)/CDOS coordinator

The Hoosic Valley Central School District is seeking a qualified individual to fill a full-time, probationary anticipated Business Teacher position in the Jr. Sr. High School, effective immediately.  NYS Certification is required.  Business and Marketing Certification to include grades 7-12 is required. CTE extension preferred.  Coordinator of Work Based Learning Programs for Career Awareness-Extension preferred but not required. Salary:  Per HVTA Agreement

 

Continuous Recruitment: Per Diem Substitutes (All Areas)

Hoosic Valley uses substitute personnel on a daily basis in a number of different position. Anyone interested in substituting must first submit an application and be board approved. Bus Driver - Substitute - ($16.30/hour)

Bus Aide – Substitute - ($9.70/hour)

Nurse – Substitute - (LPN $65/day; RN $80/day)

Home Tutor – ($15/hour)
